HPV and Cervical Cancer

On July 9th, Point of Care provided a presentation on the topic of Cervical Cancer and the Cervical Cancer Vaccine in St. Paul's Hall, Glenageary. The venue was very suitable, new bright building with access to a spacious kitchen. Always nice to have a cuppa at these events.

The presentation went very well with an attendance of around 17 people. The majority of the attendees' found the information extremely useful. There was a general concern that the vaccine is relatively new and… Continue

The time alloted to Q & As' was much longer than usual due to the large number of attendees'. The main questions asked were in relation to immunity provided by the vaccine, side-effects… Continue

Most attendees' were surprised at how easily the HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) virus can be transmitted and that sexual intercourse is not necessary in order to pass on the virus. Basically the HPV virus is transmitted by skin to skin… Continue

HPV vaccine and Cervical Cancer Information Evening

Point of Care provided yet another very successful information evening, this time at Dundrum Medical Centre. This is the second of a series of information evenings with a view to informing the public about cervical cancer. These talks are well worth going to and help to make the decision whether to vaccinate or not.

Lots of time was allocated to questions and answers after the presentation. This was followed by a very refreshing glass of wine or cup of tea/coffee. The evening itself… Continue
